Report and Absence
Absences
_____
It is important that parents and teachers know where children are, so if your child is absent, please phone the school in the morning. We are now part of a countrywide absence monitoring plan, and if your child is not at school without an explanation, for your child’s safety, we will be calling you. If we do not receive an explanation for your child’s absence within 5 days we are obliged to contact the truancy service.
Justifiable absence from school can be for:
medical appointments, illness, bereavement, or family circumstances.
If your child is absent from school please ring Phone: 278 6153 and leave a message or email absences@papnorth.school.nz. If you cannot do this, please send a note to the office on the first day a child returns to school. We are now part of a countrywide absence monitoring plan, and if an absence is not explained, we will try to contact you. (Please make sure the school has your current phone number)
School requires a medical certificate after 3 day continuous absences if the child is sick. If we do not receive an explanation for your child’s absence within 5 days we are obliged to inform the Truancy Service.
